Doing is one of the best ways of learning. Develop your skills and acquire valuable experience in a fast-paced, challenging and results-driven global organisation. Combining study with on-the-job learning, our Modern Apprenticeships offer an exciting alternative to university and provide the foundation for a career in aeronautical engineering. If you are hardworking, passionate and ambitious, we want to hear from you.
Our three-year Modern Apprenticeship Programme leads to an NVQ Level 3 certification in Engineering and provides practical training with pay. First-year, off-the-job training takes place at our dedicated training facility and develops trainees’ practical skills. In second and third years, trainees rotate around various operational areas to develop skills and knowledge required to successfully integrate into the company on completion of their apprenticeship. Day-release to a local college of further education plays a key role in the programme.
While working towards their NVQ qualifications, apprentices also get the opportunity to participate in additional training which includes Health and Safety, environmental awareness and essential skill programmes such as IT-related courses.
To join the programme, craft trainees must have at least two GCSE passes at minimum grade C (or equivalent) in Maths and English Language.Technical engineer trainees are required to have at least four GCSE passes at minimum grade C (or equivalent) in Maths, English and two further subjects, one of which must be Physics or Double Award Science. All apprentices join on the same basis and, during first year, there is a selection process to identify technical and craft trainees based on performance and qualifications.
It’s important to us that prospective apprentices/employees have a good grasp of who we are and what we do. Interviews can be daunting. Since this might be your first, we want to give you an idea of what to expect. We hope you can convince us that you’re career-minded and have the passion to succeed. Be prepared to demonstrate good background knowledge of Bombardier Aerospace, Belfast and our apprenticeship programme. Some key skills we look for include teamwork, accuracy, competence and good verbal communication. You should also have an awareness of health and safety.
We have no apprentice opportunities at present. Details of future apprentice recruitment campaigns will be posted here when available.
If you think you can make it faster, we’re right behind you.
